Fantasic Cuban sandwiches!! I was down in the Tampa/St.Pete/Tresure Island area early this month and I could not get enough cuban sandwiches. I told everyone I basically put myself in a Cuban Sandwich coma with the amount of cubans I ate. Every place we went to for lunch or dinner I had to have one. Out of all the places I went this place had the best ones! Fast and friendly service with a hot pressed cuban was total bliss! I'm craving one now! Would go out of my way to come here!

Was okay. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the reviews. I don't eat red meat, so I had the roasted turkey sandwhich....and that's all that it was! Also had the deviled crab and they should have called it "salty fried bread with a little bit of crab". In general, the bread is good but this place is just okay!

Good place to go before or after hitting the beach for a quick bite! Had the Spicy Pork Sandwich and Devil Crab for lunch and both were just OK. Had great expectations after reading reviews so I was a bit disappointed after tasting the food. I suggest checking it out if you're in the area.

I usually drive to Tampa to get a great Cuban sandwich, now I walk to the Floridian. This is on my list of the best Cuban sandwiches in the country.

The best Cuban I have ever had and I have tried many. Everything about is perfect especially the bread. All that and cheap cold draft beer.

I'm not gonna lie. Never heard of a cubano before I visited Florida. But now, thanks to the Floridian and my fellow Yelpers, I'm enlightened. The bread is amazing - whether it is really baked on palm fronds or not, after it's been perfectly pressed, it doesn't matter. I'm not the biggest fan of ham either - after one summer in France, with 35 days of consecutive ham consumption - and so a ham sandwich never ranks high up there on my list of foodie goodness. But to call a cubano a mere "ham sandwich" is stripping it of its 2nd greatest meat between bread title. It manages to take several ingredients that I only somewhat like, and turn it into something that I absolutely salivate after. I truly am changed after having a cubano, and so will you be, after you have one at the Floridian.

One of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had outside of Miami or Ybor City. Fast, friendly service and 1/2 price drafts after 3 give this spot 5 stars but 7 bucks for a small sandwich knocks off one star for me.

This was the first lunch spot on our vacation. We'd checked into the hotel, and I was wanting something close by but also something different from the run of the mill fast food joints that we could also find back in Houston. I consulted with my trusty Yelp, and it led me here to satisfying Cuban sandwiches. We ordered a 12-inch to share, and the sandwich came out toasted and very full with all the meats and cheese they'd stuffed in it. After this hearty lunch, we were ready to take on the rest of the day! Thanks for the recommendation, Yelpers!

one of the best cuban sandwiches in the state of Florida. Have to go to Miami or West Palm to compete with this one.

    (5)
  • Jason M.

Prices are good, but sandwhiches dont have much flavor and deffinately had better cuban sandwhiches. Maybe for the area it deserves more stars, but based on taste alone, I have it two and a half stars.

I just finished off a Cuban, and man oh man, was it good! I looked online to see what I could find for dinner, saw the reviews and decided this would work. I'm so glad I did! Great food, friendly people and a short walk from Gulf Blvd. I will be back!

  • Sergio S.

I had the Cuban Sandwich Combo (comes with black beans and rice) and was very pleased. The place itself is small--so it's maybe not a good place to hang out and kick back, but oh my those sandwiches are good! Friendly service too!

Hands down, the best cuban sandwich I've ever had.

Have you ever felt that your life is incomplete? Do you have a spiritual void that can't be filled? See, the truth is...you're never fulfilled as a human being until you've found the righteous path. The path of eating a "sangwich" at the Floridian, that is. Drive to Treasure Island, FL. Get a pressed cuban sandwich at the Floridian, and you will be saved. [Oh yeah, and also get those plantain chips and side of black bean soup too.] Best of luck to you brethren and sisteren -the S. Meister

Delicious cuban sandwiches! Served cold or pressed. Great outdoor patio to eat in as well.

  • Allison C.

Atmosphere and location are great! I've had a few Cubans in the Tampa Bay area, but the sandwiches at The Floridian are hands-down the best I've ever had! And to quote my husband..."I'm going to be really mad when I can't get these back home (in Ohio)." We'll be back again!

  • Thomas A.

Nice little "old Florida" sandwich shack by the beach with yummy grub. The Cuban sandwiches deemed "best of Tampa Bay" are seriously not all that! I mean, it's a decent sandwich - tasty enough - but the center meat was cold, cheese not melted. The meat itself is stock deli cuts, nothing over the top or original. I say this having tried Cubans at around 8 places so far in search of this mystical "holy grail" of cubans...so I do have some experience locally. I ate with two other people who echoed the same sentiments: not bad, but not "great" and truly not "best evar". The black beans and yellow rice with white onion was a bit more awesome...highly recommend this as your side order. Almost zero inside seating, which can be uncomfortable in midsummer...but a nice patio. Bunch of kids behind the counter slinging sandwiches and joking, makes for a fun atmosphere...

What put this place on the map is their Cuban Sandwich. Try some of the other sandwiches, but if you're like me, will always come back to their basic Cuban. Pair that with some black beans and rice and you're good to go. Sometimes, I eat in there at the restaurant, but usually order out to take out on the boat, park or beach.

Whenever I have an afternoon off where I can take my time with lunch, I go to The Floridian. Don't get me wrong, service is fast, but I just love to feel the sea breeze while I sweat from putting too much hot sauce on my meal. Fantastic cubans and enough Matouk's to go around.

This was my families first experience with cuban sandwiches we loved every one we tried as we each got something different....wish there was something like this back home !The crunchy bread, savory meats and zesty mustard n mayo topping left us craving more...I think we may go back b4 our week in Treasure Island is over

  • Liz A.

I really like the cubans here. I'm no cuban sandwich pro but I give it two thumbs up. Other than that I've had the tuna which was also great (a little hard to mess that up). The bread is great and everything tastes fresh. Outdoor & indoor seating, quick service and a walk away from the beach... works for me!

  • Nat W.

I saw an article saying this place has the best cuban sandwich so my husband and I had to check this place out. This place is very small and has limited seats and limited parking. You will have a trouble finding a parking spot if crowded. They make your sandwich hot and fresh so expect about 5-10 minutes until you get your food. They will bring out your food to your seat when it is ready. The cuban sandwich was very good. I would not say the BEST cuban sandwich I have ever had but definitely a good one. Maybe I was expecting too much since I saw the article. I wonder how their other sandwiches are like beside their cuban. Try if you are in the area...If not, do not bother driving all the way.

"Finest cuban sandwiches" is no lie. Awesome cuban by Woody and great and friendly service too. Perfectly crafted cuban! Wish we could get these in California.

Those cuban sandwiches are awesome. Texas native here, one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Strongly recommend it, it's nice to sit outside and chill.

Visited on a cloudy, rainy day so there was no big crowd or long wait. Ordered the authentic Cuban sandwich which is the house specialty. The Cuban was loaded with meat, very filling, but was only "okay" in my opinion. We paid $19 for 2 Cubans and 2 drinks, pretty reasonable for deli sandwiches.

  • Blondie P.

Best Cuban sandwich, reminds us of the old Silver Ring in Ybor City. They use a mustard/mayo combination sauce which is not real for us, but they'll make it just mustard if you ask and even put pickles on the side (hubby likes pickles, I don't). Also did not heat them for us...yummy. Hubby likes the black beans and rice too. Made a special trip there from Clearwater today for a real Cuban sandwich, the bread is the right stuff, in fact the whole sandwich is.

  • Jean Z.

LOVED this place - the sandwiches were fantastic. Our family of 6 had the pork, Cuban, roast beef and the ham and cheese. The service was friendly and fast. The sandwiches were large so our four kids could have shared. We were from out of town and wish we could have fit in another visit before we had to leave. Great place!

    (5)
  • D R.

Nice guys working the counter. Twofer beers before six. Good black beans and yellow rice. Both the Cuban sandwich and Spiced Pork sandwiches are just so-so. Tastes like thin-sliced Oscar Meyer deli meats, and not too much of it at that. Pressed til the bun's warm, but the fillings are left cold.

Just traveled home today and what did I bring back with me? A Floridian cuban sandwich. Yes you heard right, I brought a 12" sandwich all the way back to Detroit with me on the plane because this sandwich is to die for. Delicious! Best cuban sandwich I've ever had. When I travel to Florida this is one of the first places I stop. The bread makes the sandwich, buttery and soft but crunchy at the same time. They do take their time making the sandwich, you might be there for 10 minutes but hey, it's Florida, it's a slower pace. Can also eat outside but I've always gotten a sandwich to go.

Great sandwiches! The Cuban is very good and the bread is great! My 9 year old said his sandwich was better than a burger

Delicious! I was craving a Cuban Sandwich while I was in town. Very excited to have found this place. For about $6.50 you can get a half cuban sandwich (about a 6 inch sandwich) with black beans, yellow rice and toasted bread on the side. Very filling. You can order takeout or sit in their covered patio area. A great place to stop for a sandwich before heading to the beach, or take it with you to enjoy.

    (5)
  • Mikee H.

good sandwich! That said this is the place you want for laid back, sit on porch with a beer and sandwich and watch everyone else work. We did. We had the cuban, good and tasty, the bread was just right - crunchy soft and tasty. I tried the black beans an rice, ok. Friendly folks and local atmosphere. make this a nice lunch spot late evening stop! See ya next time i am in town

Went to Treasure Island, St Petersburg for the day and wanted something different to eat. Not to say that cuban sandwiches are hard to find in Florida or anything, but it wasnt fast food. Ordered the 9 inch cuban (ham, sliced pork, and genoa salami, swiss and a mayo/mustard combo) no pickle. Its also available in footlong. They also have like $1.67 draft beers with a twofor happy hour. My favorite thing about the Floridian was its proximity to the beach. My friend and I were able to order a sandwich, and sit down and eat it (on the Gulf) within five minutes. The sandwich was good, Im not a huge Cuban fan, so I wasnt ecstatic about it. But it was definitely quality. Chocked full of meat, the mayo/must hybrid was a good touch and the bread was crispy. The 9 inch was more than enough to fill me up. Id definitely go back again, but Id probably try something else.

  • Carolyn C.

The cuban sandwiches and black beans and rice are outstanding! The party that I was with also ordered the turkey sandwich (which basically consisted of meat and bread) which was a little ho-hum for all of us. Regardless, all of the ingredients taste really fresh and yummy. If you are not familiar with cuban sandwiches, this is a great crash course! If you are familiar with cuban sandwiches, this is a worthy opponent!

    (4)
  • Aaron S.

We both ordered the Cuban Combo. Great value at less than $7 each and included a half Cuban Sandwich and black beans and rice side. More than enough food for lunch! The sandwich and beans & rice were quite good! Would definitely eat there again!

  • Brooks C.

The cuban sandwiches here are good to great. However... First, this is a basic sandwich shop - order at the counter, they bring the food to your table. They have bud and bud light, but no other alcoholic drinks. Second, this wasn't a great place for my young kids. Third, it seems some of their food is frozen and then cooked as needed. For example the potatoes they couldn't remove the bacon from them. The crab sides were bad to possibly spoiled. Finally, the service wasn't great. They forgot two of the sandwiches my party had ordered. When my wife asked about what food she could eat given a food allergy, they weren't interested in discussing the options. if you don't have kids, just want a cuban and little else - this place is good enough.

  • Kathy W.

This was our first time to have a Cuban sandwich so we can't compare it to others, but it was good. The black beans and rice are excellent. Worth the visit on their own.

  • Jessica M.

I can taste the sandwich as I type. Why Can't there be one of these in Houston?? While on Vaca in Florida we rented a house that was right down the street from this place and we ate there a few times. The place knows how to make a delicious Cuban Sandwich that is not plain like some other places. YUM!! The rice and black beans are a bonus and the different hot sauces floating around the tables are a great addition to any sandwich. When I make it back to St. Pete I will be sure and make it back to this place. Until then I will be dreaming of a delicious Cuban........

  • Lily L.

Went to Floridian after reading reviews. Very pretty, nice service, however disappointed with sandwich 70 percent ham. Couldnot locate pork, also very dry. Not sure if any condiments on Cuban. Will continue search for god Cuban.

Was it the best Cuban sandwich I ever had, no, but it was good and I would certainly have another. The soup I had was delicious and I would certainly order it again and again. There are spiced pork, roast turkey, roast beef, salami, ham & cheese and plain 'ol cheese sammiches available. They also offer a tuna melt and their famous Cuban sandwich (in a 9" and 12"). I elected to get a combo, which is half of any of the sandwiches with an 8oz serving of black beans & rice, black bean soup, or Floridian Bean soup. My choice for the day was half Cuban and the Floridian Bean soup. The sandwich contains ham, spiced pork, Genoa salami, swiss cheese, dill pickle, mustard and mayo and is toasted on Cuban bread. It's very nice and tastes pretty darn good. The soup contains navy beans, ham, pork, chorizo, garlic and collard greens. It was more thick than soupy, which I always like. It tasted so good I wished I had a bigger portion than 8oz. It was very tasty. Service was quick, prices were reasonable (6.39 for my order), and you can't beat the fact that its across the street from the beach. Great discovery for me, thanks to Yelp.

  • Rob R.

An out-of-towner finds a good sandwich shop thanks to Yelp! Every part of my meal(s) here was good.... the sandwich, the rice & black beans, the outdoor seating, the quick & friendly service, and the reasonable price. Others have done a great job of describing what exactly goes into a cuban sandwich, so I won't go on. A great place to grab a quick lunch while you're at the beach! Highly recommend!!

    (5)
  • Jeffery R.

Best Cuban sandwich in Pinellas County HANDS DOWN! Cant speak to Ybor City and Tampa. There some in Ybor that rival The Floridian. The sandwich shop on 49th St and 30th Ave North in St. Pete is totally inferior to 'The Floridian'. Dont bother.....go to The Floridian.....you wont be disappointed.

    (5)
  • Mark C.

This place has done a good job with making outdoor seating pleasant despite a poor view of the surroundings. But then again you just want to come here to get a quick bite and not hang out. The menu is simple since they just specialize in pressed sandwiches and the Cuban and Pork sandwiches are very large and tasty. Wish they had more authentic Cuban side dishes to go along with the food but the black beans and rice will satisfy some. The bread is so good it makes the sandwich taste just right.

    (4)
  • Ladora A.

Went back for a second try. Ordered the spicy pork sandwich. Paid $3.00 extra for more meat on the sandwich, but it was worth it. Yummy!

    (4)
  • J O.

The Floridian got it done for me when it comes to lunch! The bread is really something to look forward to. The combination of fresh ingredients showed me they know how to make a kick ass Cuban sandwich. The atmosphere is a typical quick moving deli-sub shop type place. No complaints here, they're all about the food. We got our Cuban sandwiches in about 5 minutes and ate outside with much enjoyment. Can' t wait to go back next time I'm in town..... I didn't try the rice & beans but heard they were very good.

  • Jennie A.

I have to agree - best Cuban sandwich we've ever had. We've been going there for a few years now but when my husband found hair in his sandwich - it was the end. They where hats but recommend they need hair nets for the employees long hair.

  • John S.

Good Mexican food. Serving very large and priced nice.

    (4)
  • NIffer B.

Really just chiming in with all the other positive reviews. If your looking for quick sandwiches this is perfect. We had the Cuban (felt like we had to) which was great, but I actually preferred the spiced pork sandwich. Regardless, this is a safe bet and we might even be back during this vacation.

    (5)
  • Matt K.

Delicious Cubans and the bros behind the counter are cool. I don't know why people keep giving it 4 stars when they have nothing but good things to say about the Floridan.

    (5)
  • David B.

This is my go to Cuban place when I'm staying with my brother in Treasure Island. I stop by about once or twice a week for takeout. The service is pretty good, a little confusing at times as to who's next in line. The kids working there are kind of lackadaisical but as long as they don't mess up my order I don't care. I have eaten at the restaurant, both inside and outside, and the dining areas are usually clean and orderly. However, like I said, I usually get takeout. The Cubans are great. Always fresh and moist. Some places put too much thick roast pork on the Cuban and they tend to be dry. The Cubans at the Floridian don't have this problem. The pressed roast beef sandwich is also excellent. The black beans and rice are okay, nothing special. The Floridian quickly serves consistently good food at a decent price. Definitely a good place to get your pressed sandwiches. Of the many places I've had Cuban sandwiches, the Floridian is my favorite.

    (5)
  • Hank S.

I wouldn't cal the food here authentic Cuban and was a bit disappointed since that is what I was expecting after reading several reviews. Although the sandwich was fairly good I have never had a Cuban with sliced salami. The prices were decent and I will say it appeared that there was only one person working that night. A young man working both the register and the kitchen but he was fast and very courteous. One highlight is the deviled crab was outstanding. I wish I would have ordered another one.

    (4)
  • Christina G.

A little unsuspecting place on the side of the road, you've probably driven by it a dozen times and never really saw it. The sign is partially hidden by palm trees until you get a little closer. It's mostly outdoor seating with a bar top and a few tables inside. Almost ever seat and parking spot was taken, which has to be a good sign. There was nothing wrong with my meal, I ordered the Cuban combo with black beans and rice, and a side of Deviled crab. The Cuban was pretty good, maybe a bit too much mayo but the bread was really good and I don't have any complaints. I don't eat Cubans very often so I might not be the most well versed on what makes one better than the next. My beans and rice were nothing to write home about. I added hot sauce and it didn't seem to help much. The deviled crab was... Interesting. It's described as a ball of dough stuffed with crab, but I'm not really sure what it was. It seemed to have salsa in it, if there was crab I couldn't taste it. It was pre-made and fried so it wasn't super hot or anything. I ate it, but I don't think I would get it again. I'll definitely be back for the Cuban, maybe the turkey sandwich. But I think that'll be it.

  • Pat C.

This is a great casual stop on the way to or from the beach. Blue crab roll & black bean soup is crazy good for lunch. My husband grew up in Key West with authentic Cuban cooking and says his Cuban sandwich was terrific too. Good friendly service at a fair price.

    (5)
  • John W.

Floridian has been around the Treasure Island area for as long as I can remember. The food is delicious and the portions are enormous. I always have leftovers to take home. You really have to be looking for Floridian to find it though. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. If you are lucky enough to snag one of the handful of available parking, you should stop in and have a cuban and some black beans and rice.

    (4)
  • Erin J.

I've gone here about five occasions. I love Cubans as much as the next Floridian. Are the Cubans good? Yes. Is the spicy pork sandwich good? It's not a Cuban, more like the Cuban's bland sister. Is the Floridian anything special? No. I've had better Cubans. The rice and beans are average to any other Cuban restaurant. I think it's slightly overpriced but they've got beach side rent to pay. My husband says I'm crazy for not giving stars but I just don't think it's anything worth going out of my way for.

    (4)
  • Alexa W.

These Cuban sandwiches are my favorite of all time. Real crispy Cuban bread! The black beans and rice is also delicious. If you like Cubans this is somewhere you need to try!

This is the best and most authentic thing I've had on my trip. I will definitely be eating it again before I leave. Get the Cuban 12 inch, so you can have some for later.

  • Keith B.

Great Cuban Sandwich This is an unassuming, little restaurant on the main road to the beach. Service is from a counter and they run your order out to the table. There are just a very few tables for two inside. Outside, under a cover with fans, is the main seating area. Their namesake Cuban sandwich is delicious. My dining partner had the beans and rice and thought it dry. We got them to spoon in a bit of their black bean soup and that remedied it. I would really like to go back and try to mojo pork sandwich.

    (4)
  • Ryan D.

No idea how this place got a 4 star rating. I was visiting Tampa and was looking for an authentic Cuban sandwich on my way to the beach. I was disappointed because it was dry and flavorless. I could only eat half a sandwich. Don't waste your time. At least the staff was friendly.

    (2)
  • Glenn M.

Great Cuban Sandwhich - I tried some of the other items but they pale in comparison to the original. They have outside seating and soak up the Florida weather and enjoy.

    (4)
  • Stefanie A.

Everytime we come down to our condo in St. Pete Beach (from Chicago) my husband always HAS to get a Cuban sandwich from this place. They are delicious! Really large too, so two people can easily split one. The place is small but it has a little outdoor seating area. Nothing fancy, but great Cubans!

    (5)
  • Christian M.

So I'm really curious how in the world this place got 4 1/2 stars? Usually Yelp is pretty accurate but this one stumped me. The meat on the Cuban sandwich was just plane ol' deli meat on some Cuban bread probably bought at the local grocery store. They even forgot the pickles! Nothing about this place was authentic. The rice and beans seemed like they were straight out of a can. Little to no flavor at all with anything and the service was just meh. The workers seemed bored and looked like they could care less about their jobs. If you are looking for truly great Cuban, try Bodega in St Pete. So far that place has set the bar for me for Cuban sandwiches in the Tampa Bay area. Don't even waste your time at this place even though my review will probably get lost in the shuffle of seemingly bizarre 4 and 5 star reviews. I guess I just have high standards for Cuban sandwiches?

  • Courtney H.

Best soup ever! Try the Floridian Bean Soup it comes with a side of Cuban bread. Amazing! It's all I ever get now when I stop here.

    (5)
  • Jeff R.

Good Cuban sandwich and huge. That was nice. Overall it was a good cuban but not what you get in Miami. I would go back for another though

    (4)
  • Aaron S.

Very bland. I suppose it is more for people that think oatmeal is spicy. At least the stuffed potato was ok.

    (2)
  • Karen R.

Near perfection. The salami was an interesting add but the sandwich could have used more pork. Opt for the combo as the black beans and rice are tasty.

    (4)
  • Rebecca S.

Enjoyed my very first Cuban sandwich as this place. I'm from Minnesota and we don't get things like this in our neck of the woods. Loved my sandwich! I will definitely return if I'm ever in the area again.

  • Jason M.

The words 'Just Right' come to mind after the very first bite. As previous reviewers have discussed the calibre of meats, terrific pressing technique and overall attention to execution makes these cubans top shelf!

  • Denise G.

Can't get better Cuban sandwiches-- these are awesome!

    (5)
  • Richard T.

The sandwiches are ok, have had much better at the latin american grill in Pembroke pines Florida. the spicy pork sandwich that I had did not have that much meat, the bread is very good and the black beans and rice are very good. they open late and do not offer cuban coffee? $55.00 for 4 sandwiches all sm. 9" and 4 drinks 2 black beans and rice and one crab cake. pretty expensive for the type food, not bad but not a destination for sure!!!

    (3)
  • Craig H.

Best Cubans anywhere. Get the 12 inch Cuban and black beans and rice and it's enough for 2 for a very reasonable price. Their cheese sandwiches are also very good for vegetarians. Their Cuban bread is so good I usually order a couple extra pieces to eat later. If you live nearby and have never been or are visiting you should definitely stop in and try the best Cubans anywhere.

    (5)
  • Scott E.

I had the Cuban sandwich with a side of black beans and rice. I was going to order the 9" sandwich but decided to get the 12" sandwich. I am glad that I did. I ate half the sandwich and half of the beans and rice for dinner and will enjoy the other half tomorrow for lunch. It is easy to see why they are voted Tampa Bay's Best Cuban Sandwich. SO GOOD! We come to Treasure Island almost every year and I always look forward to stopping at The Floridian. It is one of my must go to restaurants on the island.

Cuban sandwich here tastes perfect. Can't change a thing about it to make it any better. Simple perfection. No brainier. I'd take my dad here to surprise him w a no frills delicious bite.

Such great Cubans! As a born and raised Tampa girl it's important that the sandwich have the right components and they hit the nail on the head! Delicious!

We live down the street from this place and lots of locals swear by it. It has been here for years and is definitely a solid choice. The rice and beans are very good. Cubans are pretty good, not the best but then of course I am from Tampa so I have a lot of other options for Cuban sandwiches. They have lots of good hot sauces on the tables to go with your food. If you're by the beach and want to try a Cuban sandwich, this is as good a place as any and definitely better than nearby Sloppy Joe's restaurant.

Great Cubans and a great location close to the beach. This is the best Cuban place in the area and is great for locals or visitors. The black beans and rice and a Cuban are the best. They also have a great cheese sandwich for vegetarians.

I've been eating here for twenty years. The sandwiches used to be great! Excellent fresh meat and plenty of it. I've noticed a decline in the last few years. I don't normally write negative yelp reviews but this visit was too much for me to handle. The sandwich was overpriced and terrible . The black bean soup was the only thing saving this from a one star review. They were still excellent . Go back to the way you used to make sandwiches or I won't be back.

Had this place bookmarked for two years before I tried it and it proves that I had been missing out. Great local spot and good, quick service. Cuts of meat and balance of wet ingredients was perfect! Will certainly be back next year!

Cuban sandwich superb.....black beans and rice amazing, but they didn't make Cuban coffee. Would have been a 5 otherwise.

Get the Cuban! It's the BEST you'll find anywhere! Yummm Factor: 10+ Seriously, don't mess around and get something else. You'll be jealous of your buddy if you do!

Fox 13 is right....best Cuban in Tampa Bay, bar none.....really..... Ask for a little "extra mix" if you like a crisp, hot pressed Cuban with a little more moisture in the middle...."Heaven" I know its just "wrong" but sometimes I ask for lettuce and tomato on mine that they add after its pressed.....this could be classified as "2nd Heaven" They roast their own pork, and it is truly very special. Beans and rice are quite good, and you get a side with the "combo," - best way to experience Floridian is to order a combo... Enjoy, I do quite often

Pretty good Cuban sandwiches, and pork sandwiches. The deviled crab hardly had crab. Sad face. The potato ball had good flavor. Best part was the awesome discovery of the my new favorite hot sauce. Yum! Wish I had room in my luggage to buy some home but no. Sad.

Fantastic cubans and the rice and beans are super yummy too! They even have a 2 for 1 happy hour on their draft beers! One of my favorite quick bite stops on the island :)

Cute little place on the beach for quick food with a to-go setup! I came on a Friday afternoon for lunch with some co-workers. The place is small and most of the seating is outside. It wasn't too hot out so I didn't mind sitting outside. It's nothing fancy just some tables and chairs on a patio. You have to go inside and order then they'll call your number or if your outside they'll bring it to you. There was a lunch rush. The service was quick and the staff was nice. I ordered the Cuban sandwich lunch combo. It came with half a sandwich with a side of black beans and yellow rice. The sandwich was an average Cuban, nothing special. I was thankful that it wasn't greasy. The black beans and rice were seasoned well and had a good flavor. I wasn't dissatisfied or anything just wasn't wowed. I would go back if the opportunity presented itself.

We went here back in September of last year and can't wait to go back! The Cubans were AWESOME! We also got the black beans and rice which were delish. We ended up going to this place 3 times during our trip and wanted to take some home. The deviled crab was ok, but stick with the pressed sandwiches, you won't be sorry! They have a great outdoor patio to sit at and enjoy the breeze as well.

YES YES! YES!!!!!! We were craving Cubans... after eating here... I am craving cubans even more. I could eat here everyday if I lived in Florida!!!!!!!! I suggest all those traveling through stop here and grab yourself a sandwhich!!!!!

While on vacation in Madeira beach, we thought about going to Ybor city for good Cuban fare. Fortunately, we found a spot much closer for the best Cuban sandwiches. The Floridian serves incredible food. My husband and I are vegetarians (the kids aren't), and my husband broke vegetarian to have one of these Cubans. He had no regrets and enjoyed every bite of the huge 9" sandwich. (The kids split a 12".) I had a tuna sandwich and it was quite possibly the best tuna sandwich ever. Something about the fresh fish, spices, and crisp bread....otherwise indescribable. Just pure delicious. Definitely go if you are in the St. Petersburg area. Or make a special trip if you aren't!

Solid Cuban sandwich. The black beans and yellow rice is very good as well as the bread. Not a Miami Cuban but good.

  • Brad H.

The Cuban sandwich combo (I got it with black beans and yellow rice) was the perfect size. Half a sandwich with a good size side and delicious grilled bread. The beans and rice were really tasty. The sandwich was really good but not the best I've had -- it had salami on it which I didn't care for. I also tried the deviled crab I've never had it before and I wasn't a fan but I'm not sure if that is their version or if it's just not my thing. Overall, I'd say it's a good option for a casual lunch.

If your coming to the Tampa Bay Area, you MUST get a Cuban Sandwich! Some of best Cubans you will find are in weird places like in a roadside shack or a dusty gas station. However, that's no place to enjoy your lunch. If your looking for a comfortable place to enjoy a Cuban, come to the Floridian. It's not the prettiest place in the world, but it's authentic and only minutes from the beach on Treasure Island. Even a Pirate would agree these Cubans are more than Arrrrgggg-right, they are delicious!!! Probably the most authentic Tampa Bay lunch you can get on Treasure Island! The only reason I cannot give it 4 stars is that they could load up the sandwiches with a little more meat! Nevertheless, one Cuban will fill up your plunder bag, um I mean stomach!!! You gotta try this place!

Great little sandwich place! I am not a fan of Cuban sandwiches, so I got the Roast Beef and it was great! The portion size is huge, so plan ahead. Everyone in my group just got sandwiches and no one was disappointed. Nice outdoor seating, too. If you are vacationing in the area, I would definitely make a stop here for lunch!

I have to laugh at myself once a while of how poor my sense of direction is. But most time, wrong turn takes me to utopia land as tiny as this sandwich shack. I ordered hot pressed Cuban sandwich. I always order Cuban wherever I go because Cuban is design for we gals. Thin, crispy, delicious, a food you can play with without losing your charm. I play with my Cuban sandwich while watching people order theirs. The shop is doing great business for its location near our white sand beach and of course their delicious sandwich selections. Either indoor or outdoor seats offer good people watch spots. Because it is near the beach, you see fellows of all shapes from all over the world. They chat, laugh and check out each other's tan. 8 dollar I paid for good 30 minutes of utopia time. Cheap and delightful.

  • Michael D.

Yep! Lived up to the hype! Very pleased with the Cuban and the black beans. Thought the toast was a bit unnecessary and the size of the Cuban could have been a touch bigger. That being said, I'm totally going there tomorrow.

Best Cuban sandwich I've had in Pinellas. Get the combo with the Florida Bean Soup. They have a couple beer options and a relaxing patio.

We just loved these delicious sandwiches and kept going back for more. They are very tasty and easy to stop by and pick up when you need lunch or dinner. Good bang for the buck given the cost versus size of sandwich. You will be full and content. The service was good and I will definitely return and recommend this to friends and family.

  • Paul C.

This is an awesome little sandwich shop tucked away near the beach. The cuban sandwiches have won multiple awards for a reason, they're good. But let me also put in a plug for the other sandwiches they're good too (especially the roast beef). The large drinks are really large and they have free refills so you can leave with a nice full drink, great for those hot days. Most of the seating is outside but there are fans and it has never really seemed that hot to me even in the dead of summer. Parking is a little strange. If there's no parking in front go past and turn right on the other side of the liquor store and park behind. Give them a try some day when you're over on the beach you won't regret it.

Finally, a great Cuban sandwich! This small place with a menu creative enough to have a simplistic approach delivers a quality product and great tasting subs. I will keep this short and say it is a MUST when around Treasure Island.

Cubano bocadillo muy muy bueno Are you familiar with Cuban sandwiches? If not, you should be. Here's the rundown: Ham, spiced pork, Genoa Salami, Swiss cheese, dill pickle, mustard / mayo mix all on a big hunk of Cuban bread, slathered with butter and pressed (like a Panini) until flat and warm. Wow. Being new to FL, we did some "research" to find the very best Cuban sandwich in the area. Although many places were good, the Floridian is the stand-out. The meats and cheese are juicy, spiced to perfection, and the warm pressed buttered bread is to die for. After all the Floridian's awards and accolades in the press; I was surprised to find it a humble little dive, reminding me of a dingy Subway, but with outdoor picnic tables. A lot of beach goers stop here after a long day at the beach. So expect to see people dressed (or undressed) in various types of beach wear. But don't let outside appearances fool you. This place is the bomb. In addition to their incredible Cuban sandwich, we also ordered their Black Beans & Yellow Rice plate, equally mouth-watering. It's served with chopped onion and that outstanding Cuban toasted bread. Way too much food, but what a way to go.

    (5)

  • Michele D.

  • Ladora A.

Went back for a second try. Ordered the spicy pork sandwich. Paid $3.00 extra for more meat on the sandwich, but it was worth it. Yummy!

  • Beth B.

    (4)
  • CoCo A.

Was okay. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the reviews. I don't eat red meat, so I had the roasted turkey sandwhich....and that's all that it was! Also had the deviled crab and they should have called it "salty fried bread with a little bit of crab". In general, the bread is good but this place is just okay!

    (3)
  • Suzy C.

Good place to go before or after hitting the beach for a quick bite! Had the Spicy Pork Sandwich and Devil Crab for lunch and both were just OK. Had great expectations after reading reviews so I was a bit disappointed after tasting the food. I suggest checking it out if you're in the area.

  • PT C.

One of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had outside of Miami or Ybor City. Fast, friendly service and 1/2 price drafts after 3 give this spot 5 stars but 7 bucks for a small sandwich knocks off one star for me.

    (4)
  • Diana C.

I just finished off a Cuban, and man oh man, was it good! I looked online to see what I could find for dinner, saw the reviews and decided this would work. I'm so glad I did! Great food, friendly people and a short walk from Gulf Blvd. I will be back!

I had the Cuban Sandwich Combo (comes with black beans and rice) and was very pleased. The place itself is small--so it's maybe not a good place to hang out and kick back, but oh my those sandwiches are good! Friendly service too!

Best soup ever! Try the Floridian Bean Soup it comes with a side of Cuban bread. Amazing! It's all I ever get now when I stop here.

Good Cuban sandwich and huge. That was nice. Overall it was a good cuban but not what you get in Miami. I would go back for another though

Very bland. I suppose it is more for people that think oatmeal is spicy. At least the stuffed potato was ok.

Near perfection. The salami was an interesting add but the sandwich could have used more pork. Opt for the combo as the black beans and rice are tasty.

Enjoyed my very first Cuban sandwich as this place. I'm from Minnesota and we don't get things like this in our neck of the woods. Loved my sandwich! I will definitely return if I'm ever in the area again.

The words 'Just Right' come to mind after the very first bite. As previous reviewers have discussed the calibre of meats, terrific pressing technique and overall attention to execution makes these cubans top shelf!

Excellent Cuban sandwich. The Florida Bean soup is awesome. Very casual atmosphere. Seems like it is favored by locals! I'd eat here again.

Delicious!

Been wanting cuban food for a while. This place hit the spot from Cubans to stuffed potatoes. Food was excellent !!

Okay. Basically a subway sandwich with mustard. but there's got to be better Cuban sandwiches around.....

  • Andy S.

  • Pablo H.

  • Ken K.

This was my families first experience with cuban sandwiches we loved every one we tried as we each got something different....wish there was something like this back home !The crunchy bread, savory meats and zesty mustard n mayo topping left us craving more...I think we may go back b4 our week in Treasure Island is over

We just loved these delicious sandwiches and kept going back for more. They are very tasty and easy to stop by and pick up when you need lunch or dinner. Good bang for the buck given the cost versus size of sandwich. You will be full and content. The service was good and I will definitely return and recommend this to friends and family.

  • Arthur V.

Whenever I have an afternoon off where I can take my time with lunch, I go to The Floridian. Don't get me wrong, service is fast, but I just love to feel the sea breeze while I sweat from putting too much hot sauce on my meal. Fantastic cubans and enough Matouk's to go around.

A great place to stop for a sandwich before heading to the beach, or take it with you to enjoy.

good sandwich!
